Tuna Cup Run 2007!

Just a quick posting to alert everyone about the upcoming 2007 TUNA CUP RUN! In case you don't know, this is the 2nd Annual TCR and it is a fundraiser that we have been doing to benefit all things India! It started off as a means to raise money for Tuna, Josh's best bud in Calcutta. Tuna is a homeless man who suffers from mental illness and he has been living on the streets for much of his adult life. He is alone and survives because of God and the volunteers who have a special place in their heart for him. Josh started a meal fund for him at one of the local restaurants so that he can get two meals a day (and endless amounts of tea) for free. Josh contributes to the meal fund partly through the donations raised during the Tuna Cup Run! This year, we also plan to use some of the money raised to begin another project in India. Because we will BOTH be nurses soon, we plan to go back to Calcutta to volunteer with Mother Teresa's sisters but also to start a health project for prostitutes in the Red Light District in Calcutta. We are taking a trip to Calcutta in January to plan for our mission there and to meet with a New Zealand couple who already have a project going in the Red Light District and may want to hire us to start a clinic. The extra money raised by the TCR will go towards financing that trip and towards other start up costs for our foundation!

The way the run works is this: my crazy husband Josh runs around Baxter Boulevard in Portland, Maine as many times as he can between 8am and noon. (the loop is 3.5 miles long) People pledge a certain amount per mile and after he completes his four hour torture fest, he will collect on the pledges! Last year he did 24 miles so be ready for even bigger numbers this year. :o) If you don't want to risk a large pay day, feel free to make a lump donation! You can contact Josh via his email at tucktuck02@yahoo.com or Kate at tucker. katherine@gmail.com to make a pledge or donation!

Thank you all for your support and friendship. We love you and will keep you posted on the 2007 TCR!

umm, tucker did you really run 24 miles last year? that is 8 miles per hour, which means you ran 7 min 30 sec miles. It also means that if the loops are 3.5 miles you did not complete the last loop. Hmm, i think i'm raising some serious integrity issues here.

first the tuna cup run is under new parameters this year, last year i completed 24 miles in 5.5 hours. I ran the first 21 miles and then resorted to walking after that as my knee and ankle started paining. i tried to walk one more lap and was forced to stop short as i was a hurting unit. thus the rough estimate is 24 miles. now this year my goal is 30 miles.... which will require a pace of 8 minute miles... a high goal which i have been trying to attain, a high possibly unattainable goal for this idealist.
hope all is well you salty pup

my calculations were off the first time anyway werent they. dang i'm old. really you were running 6 mph last year. Fat (not really so fat) sam ran 26. 2 in 3 hours and i believe, 36 minutes. a shame to all the rest of us. i do think you will have to match about that same pace to accomplish your goal.
on a sidenote we went out tonite for our anniversary to this italian place, tucker, you need to go man. next time you are here. now, i have another question, didn't jared L. actually start the account at khalsa's?
